Dustin launches new department for end-of-life returns of IT products
Dustin, a leading online IT partner serving the Nordic region and the Benelux, is launching a completely new department that will strengthen the company’s offering in end-of-life returns of IT products. The department will be based in Växjö, Sweden, and initially employ some 20 people.
The new department is an integral part of Dustin’s sustainability program and represents a major step toward achieving the goal of being 100 per cent circular by 2030. Dustin already offers an end-of-life returns service. The company is now raising its level of ambition.
“We see great potential in end-of-life returns. Demand among our customers is growing rapidly and we know that about 90 per cent of the products can be reused. On this basis, we decided to establish a completely new department for large-scale end-of-life returns. Moreover, by managing the returns ourselves we gain more control, which in turn allows us to assume greater responsibility throughout the process,” says Robert Pap, who is in charge of Dustin’s end-of-life returns.
The new department will be based in Växjö and will handle takeback of products from all Nordic countries. Dustin collects IT products such as computers, screens and mobile phones for reuse. Following collection, the products are anonymised, securely erased and reconditioned so that they can be sold onward to resellers of used IT products.
“This is an important part of our continued focus on a circular offering. Hardware is responsible for significant carbon emissions and by giving the products a second chance, we are taking a major step towards our goal of being 100 per cent circular by 2030 and achieving a climate-neutral value chain. We also aim to start selling used products online,” says Henrik Lampa, Head of Sustainability at Dustin.
In the first year, the new department will employ a team of 20 people. Dustin expects the new organization to be fully operational in the autumn.
