Dustin increases proportion of takeback of IT products by over 80 per cent
14 October is International E-Waste Day, the purpose of which is to reduce the amount of electronic waste globally. Dustin, a leading online IT partner in the Nordic region and Benelux, wants to play a part in driving the trend towards a more circular IT industry, and the company is now seeing a rapidly growing demand for takeback of IT products among businesses. Over the last year, Dustin has increased its proportion of takeback by over 80 per cent, from 423,000 products to 764,000.
“The trend is a clear one, and we are seeing rapid growth in demand among businesses for takeback. We want to make it easier for both businesses and the public sector to be more sustainable, which is why being able to offer takeback for IT products is important to us. In recent years, we have strengthened our offering and we are now really beginning to see the results of these efforts,” says Joakim Aspelin, Business Unit Director Large Corporate and Public at Dustin.
In addition to increasing the number of products that are given longer life and thereby reducing the amount of electronic waste, there are also other business advantages to circular IT. It enables a reduction in costs, creates new business opportunities for companies and increases cybersecurity.
“Apart from the sustainability aspect itself, there is a great deal of money that can be saved by using a circular approach to IT. Additionally, handling hardware securely is becoming increasingly critical for many organisations and businesses since many products contain sensitive personal data that should not be disseminated. That is why ensuring that the information is erased and taken care of safely and securely is also important,” Joakim Aspelin concludes.
