Dustin highlights Global Recycling Day on March 18

Global Recycling Day is held on March 18 to celebrate and highlight the importance of recycling with a focus on resources. Dustin, a leading online based IT partner in the Nordics and the Benelux, works every day to participate in and drive developments towards a more circular IT industry.

“We need to transition to a circular economy where products and materials are recycled in a responsible manner. The aim is that the products are to be used for as long as possible after which the materials can be reused to produce new products. There is enormous potential for take-back in the IT industry,” says Sandra Klackenborn, Head of Sustainability at Dustin.

Demand for sustainable and circular IT solutions through reuse and recycling has increased and in response to this – and to make it easier for companies and the public sector to contribute towards a circular transition – Dustin has taken the following action:

  • Established take-back of IT products under own management in all markets in the Nordic region and Benelux.
  • Taken back a total 423,000 products during the 2021/22 financial year.
  • Began selling refurbished networking equipment in partnership with Cisco.
  • Joined the global Circular Electronics Partnership with the aim of working together with other member organisations towards the goal of a circular electronics industry by 2030.

“It is important to us that we can offer our customers take-back of IT products and increase the number of products that are given a longer life. By doing this, we also take a major step towards our own goal of becoming 100 per cent circular by 2030,” says Sandra Klackenborn.

Global Recycling Day is celebrated each year on March 18. The Global Recycling Foundation is behind the initiative.
